All field notesROOM TO EXPERIMENT

Same design. Different placement. Different feeling.

Make a little space to explore where your idea belongs.

Start with what you want to see.

Think about whether you want to see the tattoo every day, keep it more private, or frame it with clothing. Your preferences can help narrow the options.

Try more than one composition.

Use a preview to compare a few positions, sizes, and angles. Keep in mind that a photograph flattens the body and cannot show every movement or viewing angle.

Separate pixels from centimeters.

Resizing an overlay on a photograph changes its visual size. It does not measure your skin. Take your proposed dimensions to your artist and check the stencil at actual scale.

Let the artist adapt the idea.

Bring your preferred placement into the consultation. Your artist can discuss how the shape, detail, and composition work together in the final design.
